The Events Photography Process

1. Contacting Coppertone Studios

The first step to getting your Coppertone Studios to shoot your event is to contact us. We are easily reached via or telephone (651-222-1329), and our contact information is at the bottom of every page. During this step, we will help you decide on a shooting time, ask how you heard about us, and discuss what you have in mind for specific portraiture, and the details of your event.

Where and when is it? Can we go to the site for a test shoot under similar conditions to the real event?
Will you want posed arrangements / portraits, or documentary photography, or both?
What portions or aspects of the event are "must haves"?
Will you want prints in addition to digital media? Do you want an online photo album (example)?

2. Before Your Event

From the moment we schedule your event Coppertone Studios will begin planning to make the photography a success. Since events involve extensive planning, multiple locations, and crucial moments, we will meet with you ahead of time and scout the locations to ensure that everything goes smoothly on the day of your event. We will work with you to create a style that reflects your individuality. Think about what you want - color or black and white, posed or candid, soft light and shadows or bright light and color. Think about any essential moments that you want to make sure we capture.

As the date approaches we will confirm our schedule with you and make any last minute adjustments (change your mind about when you'd like to do posed shots? That's fine, just let us know!). Make sure to let us know of any changes to your event's location or schedule.

3. Capturing the Moments

When the day of your celebration arrives, we want you to be able to focus on what you are celebrating, not the photography! Having planned carefully beforehand, we will know what you want and don't want from us and will strive to meet your needs and wishes. Posed photographs will be fun and meaningful, and candids will capture the special moments of your event.

We always work as a team, and usually take turns shooting. At any time, feel free to ask us to show you what we're shooting. You're always in charge.

4. After Your Event

After your event we will do our best to get your photographs to you as soon as possible. We will send your photos to you on a CD or DVD (or you can come by and pick them up). If you've chosen to include a photo website as part of your package we will post your photos there and send you an email when it is ready.

We will always give you all the negatives for your shoot (even the blurry ones!) unless you ask otherwise. On the disc, you will find many different folders, including those for negatives, print-resolution (for printing) and web-quality (lower in size, for web use). You will also find a folder of what we consider to be the "best" pictures, and the pictures we have worked our "darkroom magic" on. If you want to select the pictures you want us to retouch yourself, we can also provide a proof cd the night of the shoot instead (or simply choose them there), and a cd after everything is complete.

We also provide other services, and photo prints, for additional fees. All payment is due on receipt of the final disc (or other medium), unless we work out other options, and we accept cash, check, or barter as payment options.
